Bending over the X-axis or Y-axis
Construction profiles can be bent over both the Y axis (weak axis) and the X axis (strong axis).
The most suitable bending method depends on the bending orientation of the profile. By this we mean the axis over which the profile should be bent.
A brief explanation:
- The "easy way" is to bend a profile around its weak (Y-Y) axis and the "hard way" is to bend around its strong (X-X) axis;
- "Flanges/Toes in" or "flanges/Toes out" refers to the direction of the flanges on bent profiles;
- If a corner is bent on its diagonal, the heel (the intersection point of each leg) can be facing inwards, outwards or upwards.
