Welding Engineer

KERSTEN is among the leading specialists in the field of bending technology and welding technology. Using various welding techniques such as submerged arc welding, MIG/MAG welding and TIG welding, KERSTEN produces products with high quality requirements for offshore, pressure vessels and machine construction, among others.

What will you do as a Welding Engineer?

As a Welding Engineer, you are already involved in the quotation stage of an order. You give advice on the best way of welding, study the specifications of the order and provide the necessary documentation. You work with a motivated team of welders and supervise new colleagues in the welding field.

Your daily tasks include:

  • Organising (preparing) PQR and WQ.
  • Giving the welding instructions (WPS).
  • Taking care of DO and NDT testing (will be outsourced).
  • Project-managing improvement projects in the welding field.
  • Providing required documentation to customers.
  • Studying specifications and standards.
  • Supervising inspections of audit teams from customers and certifying bodies.
  • Supervising welders and advising team leaders.
  • Advising the organisation on welding techniques.
  • Analysing welding defects and drafting preventive measures.
  • Supporting welding technology certifications.
  • Thinking along about technical solutions and discussing the possibilities with production.

What we ask of you

The ideal candidate for this position has the following profile :

  • An MBO or HBO education
  • A completed IWE or IWT education, (is a requirement).Several years of experience as a Welding Engineer and experience with specifications and welding standards.
  • The following competences: communicative, representative, eager to learn and organisationally strong.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English. German is an advantage;
