The 46-metre-high structure was designed by Thomas Heatherwick and Heatherwick Studio.
It is a tourist attraction with an unusual honeycomb-like structure. Inside, there are 154 stairs, 2,500 steps and 80 platforms that offer extraordinary views of the city.
The Vessel invites to be explored from the inside. From all over the world, visitors come to capture the Vessel. In the process, every photo taken is unique. With its distinctive reflective covering, its appearance changes depending on the angle of the camera, changing daylight and the movements of people in and around the structure.
The open design allows natural light to pass through, creating dynamic patterns of light and shadow throughout the day. The shimmering exterior is a combination of bronze-coloured stainless steel and glass, reflecting the light and surroundings.
For this project, Kersten produced curved aluminium profiles to which the copper-coloured cladding is attached.
