Project

Monopile with Jetring

Recently, a 55-meter-long tubular was shipped from our Dutch factory to our customer GBM Works.

Produced by Kersten, this monopile is intended for a noise reduction system used during the installation of monopiles in the North Sea. It is part of a technology development project called Simple III.

Simple III

This new technology uses water jets with the “Vibrohammer” during installation. That's why the new technology is called VibroJet.
The water jets inside the monopile ensure that there is less friction with the seabed, so this installation method takes less energy, goes faster and - very importantly - makes less noise, which in turn is very good for marine life.
Kersten's contribution to this project includes the complete fabrication of the monopile, including the jet ring. The fabrication involved cutting, rolling and welding the cylindrical and tapered parts, producing the jet ring and integrating the jet ring with the associated piping.

The monopile has a length of 55 meters, a weight of 182.6Ton and a diameter of 4 meters.

This monopile is the largest and heaviest construction Kersten has ever produced.
