Jeroen is a real technical all-rounder at Kersten. He operates the cutting table, but is also regularly working as a welder. This variety is fun and gives him the most energy.
We meet Jeroen at the cutting table:
‘At Kersten, I operate the cutting table. This is where we cut out the plate sections we need to make cylinders and cones.
The most challenging part of this work is adjusting the machine so that the sheet results are cut to the right size and have the right angles'.
Jeroen works a lot with BBL student Nick. ‘Nick still has to develop the skills. Once you know it, it's pretty easy, but you only really learn the trade by doing it yourself. Especially doing, doing, doing. But also by making mistakes. That way, you discover what makes something go wrong and how to solve it.’
Jeroen also has a message for future colleagues. ‘If you are interested in working in metal and making things then you are in the right place at Kersten. You can start here and learn a lot. Because the more people can do this, the more you can spread out and we can all work more broadly.’
